When arranging your Hire Purchase, you’ll make an initial deposit, followed by monthly instalments between 12 and 60 months. This will include the balance of the vehicle and any interest accumulated. You won’t own the vehicle until the final payment has been made, but also won’t be tied down to a set mileage. Don’t worry, you won’t have to pay the vehicle’s original price – Instead, the depreciation value would have been subtracted from the cost.

The ownership of the vehicle belongs to the finance company/lender and when the contract comes to an end and the vehicle is sold, the customer would either benefit from the profit or bear losses on its sale. The main difference between Finance Lease & Contract Hire is that the customer takes on the risk or reward of the ownership. Another difference between Finance Lease & Contract Hire, is that Finance Lease is only available to business customers which include sole traders, limited companies and partnerships.
